Kwara United blame LMC for top flight ouster
Coach Ali Zubair of Nigeria National League side, Kwara United has blamed the League Management Company (LMC) for his side's ouster from the top flight last season.
Ali, who spoke to Daily Trust during his team's morning training session at the Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin yesterday, also added that Kwara United rightfully belongs to the Nigeria Premier League and getting the required promotion this season remains the ultimate goal for the team.
"We found ourselves in an unfortunate situation, the club is too big to be in the lower division, the Premier League is where we belong and that is where we are going next season Insha Allah," Zubair said.
United, who have established themselves as a top flight team for years, got relegated to the lower ranks at the end of last season after crowd trouble at their ground during a league tie against Warri Wolves cost them three points and goals, a fine of N5 million and a ban to a neutral ground for their remaining matches.
All these, according to the Coach were not carried out in good faith and remain the reason for the team's ouster from the apex Nigeria football league.
"We were not the only club that has a case of crowd disturbance last season, it happened during the Kano Pillars against Enyimba game and also with Bayelsa United and El Kanemi then why was our punishment stiffer than the rest of the teams, that is a question I would love to get an answer to" the former assistant manager concluded.
The club defeated Jigawa stars 1-0 at home in Sunday's encounter and will be hoping for a favourable result when they visit fellow north central team Kogi United in an NNL Week 24 fixture this weekend.
