Date: 2014-07-11

Former Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Joel Ogundeji, has urged the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to lead the party with democratic principles to aid its emergence as the party in power by 2015.

Ogundeji who served as the deputy governor during the eight-year administration of Bukola Saraki but who did not follow the latter to the All Progressives Party (APC) gave the advice at a one-day retreat.

The theme of the retreat was, "A new day for the development of Kwara State" and was organised by the PDP for its members in the state.

He said by that there would be a new dawn in democratic governance in the state while the state would emerge a role model to many others in the country.

The former deputy governor enjoined all those that would contest political offices in the next election to play the game by the rule.

In his address on the occasion, chairman of the PDP in the state, Iyiola Oyedepo, advised members of the party to take the forthcoming distribution of permanent voters' cards (PVC) and continuous voters' registration (CVR) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with commitment and dedication.

Oyedepo who said both the PVC and CVR are important in the determination of the outcome of the 2015 election.
