'NOUN Study Will Improve Literacy Among NURTW Members'

Date: 2014-03-03

National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Zone 4 comprising Kwara, Benue, FCT, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states has said the opening of study centre of National Open Universities of Nigeria (NOUN) at the union's headquarters in Abuja would go a long way in improving literacy among members of the union.

It would be recalled that some NURTW members numbering over 100 were recently matriculated at the centre.

The NURTW, in a communiqué issued at the end of a one-day meeting in Ilorin, jointly signed by its zonal chairman Comrade Danjuma Jeji, Secretary, Comrade Bello Umar and Treasurer, Comrade Aliyu Isa Ore, said the initiative was capable of repositioning activities of the union and changing public's negative perception of its members. NURTW said the initiative was a giant stride of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the union towards empowering and educating members.
