5 stock brokers open offices in Ilorin.

Date: 2008-04-06

Following the take-off of the Ilorin branch of Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE), five stock brokerage firms have opened their offices in the Kwara State capital.

Mr Oladipo Aina, President, Chartered Institute of Brokers, droped this hint in Ilorin in a chat with newsmen.

Aina, who held a private meeting with Gov. Bukola Saraki, said that 30 other firms had expressed readiness to open their offices in Ilorin.

He said that the institute planned to hold its 2008 National Conference in Ilorin later in the year as a mark of support to the success achieved by the Saraki administration.

Aina expressed belief that in the next 14 months, the Ilorin floor of NSE would witness increase in stock transactions, as more brokers establish their presence.

He said that each brokerage firm with an office in the city would employ about 10 auxiliary staff with most of them people from the state.

"There is no way that firms will establish offices here without creating job opportunities for people in the local area,’’ he said.
