'Saraki Will Lose His Hegemony in 2015 Elections'
A former Chief Whip, Kwara House of Assembly, Chief Iyiola Oyedepo, on Monday said the results of the 2015 general elections would mark the end of Saraki's hegemony in the state politics.
Oyedepo, who is also a staunch member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the observation in an interview in Ilorin.
He said that the party had become "a unity rally" and indivisible entity to flush out the long reign of Saraki in the state.
Oyedepo described the dream of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to perpetrate itself in power in Kwara as a "dream that cannot come to reality".
"The APC in Kwara are in day dream of continuation in power over the rest of us as positive changes will be witnessed in Kwara," he said.
The former Chief Whip said that the federal machinery that Saraki was employing to win elections was no more at his disposal.
According to Oyedepo, the 2015 elections will be based on popular votes which Saraki cannot sustain.
"Whatever has the beginning must have an end; let us begin to celebrate the post-Saraki era in Kwara.
"Many eras have past in Kwara, Saraki era must also succumb to history," he said.
In a swift reaction, the Secretary, Interim Committee of APC in Kwara, Chief Yemi Afolayan, condemned Oyedepo's position , saying that his party would retain power in Kwara beyond 2015.
Afolayan said that some PDP members could hardly deliver their wards or polling units which APC could boast of in any election.
"We are not losing any sleep; APC is fully on ground in Kwara and we are doing well in governance and we shall win the forthcoming election as we always won," he said. (NAN)
