Kwara, no go area for PDP - Saraki
He boosted the structure of APC in the state, saying that some the political activities being organized by PDP shows that the party is jittery about the success recorded by APC in its recent membership registration.
Saraki who spoke with newsmen in his Iloffa residence yesterday, said if such huge number of people could register for APC within the shortest time, it shows the acceptability of the party.
He said APC had recorded over 38,000 card carrying members because the people of the state really accept the party.
According to him, “Let them go and register their members and see how many they are rather than organizing rally that does not mean anything. So they too know that PDP is a party that does have any form of cohesion.
“I think all these rallies are just to boost their party gimmicks because Kwara have spoken during the APC registration and I want to use this opportunity to thank all Kwarans that came out to register for APC. If in three months, we can gather this kind of mobilization, it shows the acceptability of the party; it shows that people believe in structure.
“So, they should put up their resources in other states because Kwara is not the area they will be able to do much”.
Reacting to the suspension of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Saraki described his suspension as a signal that independent of CBN is no longer guaranteed going by CBN Act.
He said “the issue is no more about Sanusi as an individual but about the CBN governor’s position because the new governor can boost that his tenure is five years”.
He added that there is no section of CBN Act that support the President’s action be it suspension or removal of CBN governor.
He said with the development, the independent of the position of CBN governor is longer guaranteed.
Saraki noted that investors outside the country who had invested in the country because of the fact that CBN is independent may loose confidence in the economy of the country.
He said the moment the institution like CBN is not protected, it has far reaching effects on the economy of the country.
“It is all about CBN as an institution because the reason for passing the law is to ensure independent of CBN.
“If the President can suspend CBN governor, what stops him from suspending INEC chairman. So, there are far reaching issues on the suspension of CBN Governor”.
Speaking on the recent appointment of political appointees in the state, he said APC led government in the state injected more grassroot mobilizers in the positions of authority as a way of changing dynamism of the party and give more people sense of belonging.
He said the state chapter of APC has set up reconciliation committee to reach out to people and woo them to accept the party.
He advised the security agents to remain neutral so as to ensure that people’s wishes are prevail especially during the election period.
