KWARA APC COMMUNIQUE

Date: 2013-12-16

PRESS BRIEFING OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) ON 16th DECEMBER 2013 IN ILORIN, KWARA STATE

The Leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State at our Special General meeting which held on the 5th December, 2013 deliberated over a number of issues and unanimously resolved as follows;

That we commend the effort of the national leadership of our great party for taking concrete steps at forging a broad-based coalition aimed at rescuing the country from the brinks of collapse and hopelessness.

That we subscribe fully and unconditionally to this rescue bid believing that the task of rescuing Nigeria transcends regional, ethnic, religious and political divides; the task requires all patriots, irrespective of political leanings to forge a common front to remake and re-direct the country. We re-affirm the indispensability of building consensus and compromises, which are required to stabilize the polity, give our Party a hard inner core, and make it a force to be reckoned with.

That it is in the light of the above that we pledge the full cooperation of the existing APC members in Kwara State with our new friends from the PDP. We assure them that the APC House is big enough to accommodate everyone, especially those who believe in our Party's tripod ideologies of justice, equity and economic prosperity for the good people of Nigeria.

We particularly recognize the preeminence of his Excellency, the Executive Governor of the state, Alhaji Abdulfatai Ahmed, Sen. Bukola Saraki and all other stakeholders of thought in the state. We note with delight, their doggedness in fighting injustice in their former party and their commitment to the Nigerian ideals. We are convinced beyond doubt that these leadership qualities, among others, are in tandem with the vision and aspirations of the founding fathers of the APC.

That since the much awaited merger between the APC and the PDP has been successfully consummated, we shall now settle down for the onerous task of putting the party structure in proper shape across the local government areas, wards and polling units in the state to consolidate the gains already recorded so far. There shall be an immediate commencement of membership registration drive for the party, especially in view of the forth coming party membership registration exercise billed for this month. While this is on, the party shall also embark upon an aggressive mobilisation and sensitisation of the electorate, down to the grassroots, not only on the ideals of our party but also on the need for all hands to be on deck for this final rescue voyage.

That we state, with all sense of responsibility that all members of our Party shall be actively carried along in the scheme of things in the state. ALL, we repeat ALL members shall be productively engaged in both the activities of the party and the various programs of the government of the day. We shall therefore be actively keeping them abreast of events as they unfold in the party. We urge them therefore to continue to keep faith with the Party and join hands with our new friends to build a virile Party that can stand the behemoth called the PDP and their evil machinations.

Finally, we wish to assure members of the public, who have reposed so much hope and trust in the APC, that they shall not be disappointed. With the APC taking charge of the government in the state, our supporters and sympathizers can beat their chests and look forward to a more robust, boisterous and reflective government, one that will more respectfully and intelligently engage the public than it had done so far. Indeed, not only are the possibilities endless, this divine emergence of an APC government in Kwara state could very well be the tonic needed to guarantee the survival of democracy in the polity.

Signed
