The Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Agboola Oshodi-Glover, on Monday pledged the command's continuous support to the youth through implementation of meaningful sport developmental programmes.

Oshodi-Glover made the pledge at the final of this year's Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) organised 2013 Commissioner of Police U-13 soccer tournament at the Kwara Stadium, Ilorin.

Agboola, represented by DCP Zanna Ibrahim, said the tournament had come to stay, adding that the partnership with YSFON was aimed at building a crime-free society through sports.

He congratulated the winners of the competition, even as he said that all the participants were all winners and urged them to be focused and shun the use of drugs.

The commissioner, who announced undisclosed cash prizes to the winners, promised to improve on the prizes in the subsequent editions.

The Chairman of Kwara YSFON, Ademola Kiyesola, commended the CP for sustaining the youth development platform which he said was complementing the efforts of the state government in youth programmes.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Wisdom FC defeated Champions FC 3-1 on penalties after a barren draw at the regulation time to win the trophy.

The victory had qualified Wisdom to represent the state at the 2014 Oba of Benin competition in Edo.

YoungPro FC defeated Vision FC also 3-1 on penalties after the regulation time had ended 1-1 to lift the competition's third place trophy.
