Date: 2013-11-11

Thirty-two indigenes of Kwara State have been offered appointment at the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC).

Their appointments were facilitated by the chairman of the corporation, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje.

Presenting letters of appointments to the successful candidates at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward meeting at Baboko area of Ilorin, on Saturday, Alhaji Baraje said that the opportunities cut across different categories of workers which included Cabin Operators, Senior Station Officers and Senior Length Men.

Alhaji Baraje, who was represented at the event by his Personal Assistant, Alhaji Ibrahim Babaolobi, said he would not relent in facilitating appointment of more Kwara people into federal appointments as a means of complementing efforts of the state government in providing youth employment.

He appealed to youth to shun violence and thuggery,  but  rather face their studies and other entrepreneurial skills to become responsible future leaders.

The NRC chairman also commended efforts of Kwara State government in providing the youth with employment.

At the same event, a cross-section of some supporters of All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Mallam Alimi Tajudeen defected to the PDP and pledged their support to work for the party's victory in future elections.

Mallam Tajudeen said they had decided to join the PDP due to the party's achievements and programmes for the electorate and pleaded with th state government and the leadership of the party to continue to provide employment opportunities to youth and give welfare packages to the old women.
