Kwara trains personnel on pentavalent vaccine

Kwara State Government yesterday began training of personnel ahead introduction of pentavalent vaccine into routine immunization services.

The training is aimed at reducing infant mortality rate through haemophilus influenza type B.

Declaring the training open at the state ministry of heath, the State commissioner for health, Alhaji Abdul Kayode Issa explained that Kwara State will no stone unturned in the reduction of infant mortality rate in the state.

He explained that the introduction of the pentavalent vaccine will go a long way in enhancing the total elimination and eradication of diseases such as haemophilus influenza, Hepatitis B, Diptheria, Pertusis and tetanus for a better tomorrow of the childen.

According to him him, Kwara state Government as renovated a large coldroom donated by the European union and equipped it with ultra modern gadgets so as to maintain cold ichain and ensure the potancy of the vaccine.

The state government has constructed modern incinerators in some health facilities and replicating some in other health facilities across the state for proper and adequate disposal of waste generated during vaccination exercise" he added.

Issa noted that Nigeria must therefore commit to and implement high impact intervention aimed at reducing child deaths.

The commissioner further explained that the homophiles influenza type B vaccine as part of the pentavalent vaccine introduce to Nigeria.

Expanded Programmed on Immunization(EPI) in order to substantially reduce child mortality from pneumonia and mentalists.

Also in his remark, the team leader of the facilitator, pharmascist Adam commended the effort of the Kwara State Government in supporting primary health care programme in the state.

Adam explained that the introduction of the new vaccine is to prevent carebrane meningitis and prenmonia.

He said there is need to include the vaccine into routine immunization inorderto meet-up with the targeted objectives.

The team leader however commended the present administration in the state for making health care delivery assessable for its citizenry.

Speaking on the objective of the training prince macbee Adeniji said the training will improve the knowledge and skill of vaccinators in the state.

He said the programme was also aimed to train expanded programmed immunity/ution managers anil vaccinators on storage and how to handle the vaccine.
