THE Kwara State government has commended the contingent to this year's Quranic memorization competition held in Kastina State for their brilliant performance.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sola Isiaka Gold, gave the commendation in Ilorin while receiving the committee in his office.

He said the feat exhibited by the contigent at the competition had made the state proud, assuring the State Quranic Memorisation Committee of the support of the state government to enable them win more laurel in the future.

The SSG said tha the state government attached great importance to the committee's assignment, "especially at this time when some of our youth engage in anti-social vices".

He, therefore, appealed to the trainers to put in more efforts in order to help re-shape the focus of the youths.

Also speaking, the state chairman of the committee, Alhaji Ayinla Ayilara Abdulsalam, said the committee was established in 1986 with the aim of promoting Islam and training the youth the art of memorizing the Holy Quran.

Alhaji Abdulsalam, who was represented by Alhaji Woli Kamaldeen, expressed the committee's appreciation to the state government for support it had been enjoyed, which he said had been of great assistance to them.

He said the committee won various awards in the completion.
