Kwara commences public sale of fertiliser

Date: 2014-05-06

The Kwara Government has commenced public sale of fertilisers to farmers in the state, a statement said on Monda. The statement was signed by Mr Murtala Atoyebi, the Press Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin.

The statement quoted the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Kayode Towoju, as saying that urea and Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium (NPK) fertilisers were available for sale to interested farmers.

It said that the exercise would ease farmers’access to the commodity.

The statement said the commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming agriculture from its present subsistence farming to commercial agriculture.

It appealed to youths in the state to embrace agro-business in order to be job creators and not job seekers. (NAN)
