Jonathan: Kwara PDP Dissociates Self From Walkout

Date: 2013-09-05

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Kwara State chapter has dissociated itself from the walk out on President Goodluck Jonathan and other leaders of the party by some members of the party at last Saturday's PDP Special National Convention at the Eagle Square. LEADERSHIP recalls that the governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed was among the state governors that walked out of the convention in protest.

In a press statement signed by the first PDP chairman in the state, Mr Kunle Suleiman, on behalf of other members of the party and made available to LEADERSHIP, the party condemned the action in strong terms, while reinstating its unflinching support to President Goodluck Jonathan and the party leadership.

It called on the National Working Committee(NWC)  of the party to ensure that the culprits are made to face the full wrath of the law as inscribed in the constitution of the party, while asking other members of the party to "disregard any directive from the Kawu Baraje / Ishola B. Fulani-led faction" of the party.

Meanwhile the Kwara State chapter of the PDP yesterday affirmed Ishola Balogun Fulani as the authentic chairman of the party in the state.

The affirmation of Balogun Fulani as the state chairman of PDP came on the heels of alleged claim by Kunle Sulyman that he is the chairman of the party in the state.

Addressing newsmen at the state PDP Secretariat yesterday, the party's secretary, Prince Yemi Afolayan who stood in for the chairman described Sulyman and his cohorts as "impersonators and hungry politicians".
