A middle aged woman, Idowu Funmilola of Upper Gaa-Akanbi area, Ilorin, has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court for allegedly stabbing her co-wife.

The accused person was said to have on July 7, 2013, used a knife to inflict serious injuries on the victim during a fight.

The victim, Mrs. Idowu Ayobami, who resides in the same house with the accused, had lodged complaint at ‘A' Division Police Station, Ilorin, that the accused stabbed her with the intention to kill her.

Police First Information Report, FIR, on the matter stated that in the course of investigation, the accused confessed to have committed the offence.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Jubrin Al-Hassan informed the court that investigation into the case was still in progress and he prayed the court to adjourn the case to enable the police complete their investigation.

The defence counsel, Barrister Tunde Falola prayed the court to admit the accused to bail pending the outcome of investigation.

He submitted further that if the court refused the bail of the accused it would amount to pre-trial punishment, while the judge, Magistrate I.O. Olawoyin granted the prayer of the defence and admitted her to bail at the sum of N20,000 and two sureties in like sum and adjourned till June 23 for further mention.
