Unilorin will Continue to Follow FG's Directives on Admission Criteria

The management of the University of Ilorin has said that the University will continue to go in line with the admission criteria given to it by the federal government. The Vice Chancellor stated this on (Tuesday 4th June 2013) while participating on an interactive programme on UNILORIN 89.3FM, Talk to the VC
He said due to the large number of admission requests the University receives yearly, it has no choice than to pick the best.
Professor Ambali said the University will continue to ensure the lives and property of members of the Community is protected and as such the University has made efforts to secure its borders and get more security personalson campus.
On the recent visit of members of the senate and house committees on education professor Ambali said the members were very complementary with their comments and the University was given encouraging statements as well as the go ahead to proceed with the developmental works in the University.
He said the University usually encourages its prospective post graduate students to ensure they have all their required papers intact before applying. Professor Ambali said the University has a committee that interact with owners of Houses outside the campus so as to moderate the fees and provide the necessary logistics for the students.
The Vice Chancellor said the University is still very keen about its proper dressing rules and regulations stating the University would not tolerate any act of indecent or inappropriate dressing on the campus.He said the University is still awaiting the Minimum cutoff marks after which it the management will meet to fix that of the University.
Professor Ambali said the University has spent about half a billion naira in the purchase of Laboratory equipment stating that it will continue to ensure the students have adequate equipment to work with. He stated that the University had also purchased equipment for faculty of Engineering and Sciences. He said one of the priorities of the university is the provision of up to date equipment and as such the university has gone ahead to ensure it gives its laboratory technologists adequate trainings.
The Vice Chancellor said the University does not intend to separate the males and female students at the department of human kinetics but the management has advised the department to group the students in during their practical secession especially swimming.
He said the University intends to ensure students get their results and spread sheets as and when due stating that the University has always been distinct in the timely release of its student results.
Professor Ambali thanked all staff of the University for their corporation and dedication and the students for being law abiding. He attributed the acknowledgments from the House of representative and senate members on education to the joint efforts put in by everyone which shows that everyone is working
