Kwara Government Warns Residents Against Illegal Wastes
Kwara State government has appealed to all residents in Fate and Tanke communities in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse across the streets in order to prevent epidemic outbreak.
According to statement made available to newsmen, the State Commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Barrister Kayode Towoju Barrister made the appeal on Sunday during his inspection to areas submitted by some residents to the Ministry for immediate attention.
As part of the ministry’s efforts to ensure cleanliness of un-organized area of Fate community, the Commissioner urged the residents to cement the location where Roro bins would be placed, while warning the representative of the community to ensure that hot-charcoal and faeces are not poured into the Roro bins.
He stressed that more Roro bins would be provided in Ilorin metropolis pointing out that waste commercialization would be a continuous process in organized areas of Fate, while calling on all residents of Adewole area to buy Sanitary Dustbins in order to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse on road setbacks across the streets.
In his response, the Chairman of People Democratic Party, Ilorin South in conjunction with residents of the Community promised to ensure that the Roro bin is well monitored.
