Chief Engr. Sola Ajimati Declares for Kwara South Senatorial Seat in 2027
A chieftain and senatorial aspirant in Kwara State, Chief Engr. Sola Ajimati, has declared his intention to contest the Kwara South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, emphasising the need for a generational shift in leadership.
Ajimati made his position known in Abuja during a high-profile pre-declaration event where he also unveiled the It's Youth O'Clock Movement (IYOM), a platform aimed at mobilising young people for active participation in governance.
He said the time had come for younger Nigerians to take the lead in shaping the country's political and developmental trajectory, particularly in Kwara South.
"This is more than a political ambition it is a call to action. The future belongs to the youths, and the moment has come for them to step forward and lead with vision, courage, and innovation," he stated.
Ajimati explained that his movement would focus on youth empowerment, inclusive governance, and sustainable development, noting that the energy and ideas of young people remain largely untapped in the nation's political space.
According to him, the It's Youth O'Clock Movement is designed to bridge the gap between experienced leadership and emerging voices, creating a platform where innovation and policy can intersect for measurable impact.
Political observers view Ajimati's early declaration and movement launch as a strategic step toward building momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event, which attracted political stakeholders, business leaders, and youth advocates, is seen as part of broader efforts to consolidate support and establish a strong grassroots network across Kwara South.
In a highlight of the evening, Ajimati was conferred with honorary doctorate degrees in Engineering Management and Business Administration in recognition of his contributions to engineering, infrastructure development, and leadership.
Supporters say the recognition reinforces his credentials as a technocrat capable of delivering effective representation.
With the race gradually taking shape, Ajimati is expected to embark on consultations and grassroots engagements across the senatorial district, with a focus on policy-driven campaigns and youth inclusion. His entry adds a new dimension to the emerging political contest in Kwara South, where calls for greater youth participation continue to gain traction.
