Excellence Becoming Routine in Kwara Education System, Says Commissioner
The management of Ar-Raheem School, Ilorin, has presented a group of their students to the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development following their outstanding performances at the African Spelling Bee held in Harare.
The event in Harare brought together young minds from over 30 African countries, demonstrating that excellence is rarely accidental but the result of discipline meeting opportunity.
The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, received the students alongside the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Mrs Rebecca Bake.
Speaking during the reception, Olohungbebe described the students' achievement as more than just medals and applause, noting that it represents a quiet but firm declaration that when the foundation is fixed, the structure will command strength.
The commissioner also noted that the feat came shortly after some of their colleagues from public schools returned with medals and trophies from Malaysia, where they represented Nigeria at an international debate platform.
He described the development as proof that excellence is not confined to one corner but is rising across the system.
Olohungbebe reaffirmed the commitment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to building an ecosystem where both public and private institutions not only survive but also compete, evolve, and lead.
"This is how systems mature, deliberately, consistently, until excellence stops being news and becomes routine," he said.
The commissioner congratulated the champions and noted that they are expected to represent Nigeria at the next stage of the competition in China in July 2026.
"Congratulations, champions. China awaits in July 2026. Go and raise the flag higher," he added.
