Progressive Women Initiative Network Endorses Engr. Femi Sanni for Kwara Governorship
The Progressive Women Initiative Network (PWIN) in Kwara State has declared for the emergence of Engr. Femi Sanni, popularly called Araba, as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and subsequently the governor.
It declared him as the most competent and non-negotiable choice to lead the state into the next phase of development.
Hon. Adeoti Monilola announced the endorsement during a rally and a press conference held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Ilorin, where the group made a strong case for Sanni's candidacy within the APC.
Addressing party leaders, stakeholders, and members of the press, Monilola said the decision followed extensive consultations and a careful assessment of the political landscape, stressing that the group's position was based on merit rather than sentiment.
She described Sanni as a leader with a clear understanding of governance and economic realities, noting that his background in business and industry places him in a strong position to drive growth, create jobs, and encourage innovation across the state.
The PWIN spokesperson added that the group's endorsement was not influenced by ethnic, religious, or sectional considerations, but anchored on Sanni's track record, capacity, and commitment to progressive ideals.
Highlighting the importance of inclusive leadership, Monilola noted that women across the state are particularly interested in leaders who prioritize empowerment and equal opportunities.
She commended Sanni for his support for women initiatives and his demonstrated willingness to create space for women in governance.
She also pointed to his growing popularity among young people, describing him as a unifying figure whose appeal cuts across different segments of society.
"As women, we are not just observers; we are voters, mobilizers, and key stakeholders in the political process," she said, noting that the group is confident that Sanni represents the future the state desires.
Consequently, it urged APC leadership to prioritize merit, electability, and the overall interest of Kwara State in selecting its candidate for the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
PWIN urged party members and residents of the state to remain united and committed to sustaining progressive governance, expressing optimism that collective efforts would lead to continued development.
The endorsement added to the growing political momentum around Sanni's ambition, as various groups within the party continue to align ahead of the primaries.
