Troops Neutralise Terrorists and Rescue Kidnap Victims in Major Offensive Across Ifelodun LGA

Date: 2026-01-31

Troops of 22 Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army, supported massively by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), have sustained aggressive offensive operations against terrorist elements in Kwara State, recording significant successes between 23 and 29 January 2026.

The operations, conducted under the leadership of Major General Chinedu Nnebife, General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 3 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, together with Brigadier General Nicholas Rume, Commander 22 Armoured Brigade, demonstrated exceptional operational tempo and resolve to dismantle terrorist networks.

During fighting patrols across several bandit enclaves, troops neutralised one terrorist while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds; their hideouts and camps were completely destroyed, leaving the criminals thoroughly dislodged.

Troops also cleared Garin Dandi, a notorious bandit stronghold in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, decimating the terrorists' logistics bases and supply chains.

Several hitherto inaccessible remote camps were stormed and destroyed, significantly degrading the bandits' ability to sustain themselves.

Despite challenging terrain, troops maintained relentless pressure across forested areas, denying the criminals freedom of movement, intercepting fleeing elements at blocking positions, arresting suspected terrorists, and rescuing numerous kidnap victims from various camps across the state.

Intelligence gathered indicates that bandits continue to receive support from collaborators in nearby communities who provide information on troop movements, enabling early evasion.

The successes achieved highlight the determination and effectiveness of 2 Division in degrading terrorist elements and restoring security in Kwara State.

The GOC 2 Division has urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information on bandits and their collaborators to sustain the momentum of ongoing operations, which remain active until all terrorist networks in Kwara State are decisively eliminated.
