NPFL Match Day 10: Rangers and Kwara United Play Out Goalless Draw in Enugu
Rangers International Football Club of Enugu were held to a drab goalless draw by Kwara United FC of Ilorin on Sunday in the Match Day 10 of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) 2025/2026 season.
The match, played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, started with the home team, known as the Flying Antelopes, immediately dictating the pace and controlling the game from the blast of the whistle.
However, Rangers were unable to convert their dominance into goals. Poor marksmanship, coupled with the agility of the Kwara United goalkeeper, repeatedly denied the home side.
The pressure almost paid off in the 44th minute of the first half when Chukwuemeka Agu's free kick outside the 18-yard box dramatically hit the cross bar. This near-miss caused anxiety among the home fans who had been craving a goal.
In the second half, the home team continued with their onslaught in the vital area of the visitors but could not find the net.
The visitors made frantic efforts to get the winner but lacked the spirit and determination to carry the day.
With the draw, Rangers now have 12 points from nine matches sitting on 12th position On the log.
In his post match interview, Rangers Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, lamented the absence of Godwin Obaje, their goal maker, currently nursing an injury.
"It is glaring now that without Obaje, we cannot score goals, " he said.
Coach of Kwara United, Suleiman Ashafat, said they came to Enugu with the mind to get points.
"The result is not bad; we came prepared to get some points but with this we are satisfied, " he said.
