Governor AbdulRazaq Inspects Oluremi Tinubu Hospital, Vows Completion by Q2 2026
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has inspected ongoing construction at the multistorey Oluremi Tinubu Hospital in Ilorin, reaffirming his administration's commitment to completing the multi-billion-naira project by the second quarter of 2026.
The site visit followed the governor's recent approval of an additional N20 billion for the renovation and upgrade of public school infrastructure across the state.
Speaking to journalists at the hospital compound, AbdulRazaq described the facility as a flagship of his administration's people-centred development agenda, spanning healthcare, education, road networks, and social investment programmes.
Named after the wife of President Bola Tinubu, the hospital is set to be equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, including MRI and CT scanners, radiography machines, and PET scan equipment—most of which, the governor confirmed, has already been procured.
AbdulRazaq attributed the accelerated pace of infrastructure delivery across Nigeria to increased federal revenue following the removal of the fuel subsidy. He pointed to major hospital projects underway in Lagos, Kaduna, and Katsina as evidence of a broader subnational investment surge in public services.
"This is what responsive governance looks like," he said. "With improved fiscal space, we are building institutions that will serve generations."
Once completed, the Oluremi Tinubu Hospital is expected to become a major referral and diagnostic centre in North Central Nigeria.
AbdulRazaq stressed that work was progressing on multiple fronts beyond healthcare. He listed ongoing rural road projects in Asa Local Government and other parts of the state, such as the Oro-Arandun Road, the Ajase-Ipo-Oke Ode route, Omu-Aran-Okok Road, and access roads to tourist destinations like Owu Waterfall. He noted that investments in education, though less visible than roads, were equally significant, with new funding aimed at tackling longstanding infrastructural deficits in schools.
The governor also highlighted projects such as the International Conference Centre, ICT Centre in Shonga, Patigi Regatta Motel, Sheabutter Factory in Kaiama, and Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Offa, describing them as part of a broader drive to stimulate economic growth and improve living standards.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting Kwara's development efforts, adding that his administration would continue to prioritise initiatives that deliver long-term benefits to residents.
