Kwara Police and NSCDC Vow Stronger Partnership to Tackle Rising Criminal Threats

Date: 2025-05-14

The Kwara State Police Command and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration and unified action against criminal activities destabilising the state.

The joint pledge was made during a courtesy visit by the newly appointed State Police Commissioner, Adekimi Ojo, to NSCDC State Commandant Dr. Umar Mohammed at the NSCDC headquarters in Ilorin on Tuesday.

Dr. Umar described the meeting as timely and strategic, noting that security agencies must now work closely together to counter increasingly complex threats.

He raised concerns over the surge in kidnapping and related crimes in the state, emphasizing that the time for isolated approaches is over.

"No single agency can address the current security realities alone. We must build a united front, share intelligence, and execute joint strategies to restore safety and stability across the state," he stated.

On his part, the State Commissioner of Police, Ojo, commended the NSCDC for its proactive stance and affirmed the Police Command's readiness to work side by side with the Civil Defence Corps.

He emphasized the need for synergy between security agencies and the importance of eliminating inter-agency rivalry, particularly among junior personnel, to foster a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, and cooperation, according to a statement by the spokesman of the Civil Defence Corps, Ayoola Michael Shola, in Ilorin on Tuesday.
