University of Ilorin Alumni Honours 16 Best Graduates at Inaugural Award Ceremony

According to Voice of Nigeria, the Alumni Association of the University of Ilorin has recognised 16 best-graduating students from the Class of 2024 during its inaugural award ceremony and honours luncheon. The event celebrated outstanding students who have distinguished themselves academically.

Similarly, 23 notable alumni, including the Special Assistant (Media) to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Rasaq Akoshile, and the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), were honoured for their contributions to the institution and society.

National President of the association, Professor Abdulrazaq Kilani, highlighted that the ceremony aimed to both celebrate academic excellence and remind alumni of their responsibility to support their alma mater.

According to him, the association is honouring some of its valued alumni because of their contributions to society and to remind them that the University of Ilorin is proud of their accomplishments.

He added that Unilorin is monitoring their progress and the giant strides they are making and to remind them that it is time to give back to their Alma mater as valued Alumni.

Kilani also announced plans by the association to embark on three projects namely the re-modeling of the alumni secretariat, the construction of a male hostel to complement the existing one, and an alumni guest house that will also provide accommodation to visitors to the school.

Speaking with journalists, Akoshile urged the newly graduating students to leverage the digital skills they acquired while in school to make a difference in their various fields of endeavors where they might find themselves in the future.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Wahab Egbewole who was also honored charged the alumni and the new graduates to harness the best opportunities available in their various disciplines to make their alma mater great.
