According to a news report from New Telegraph, the suspected killers of the traditional ruler of Koro, a community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have been arraigned at the State High Court in Ilorin.

The suspects, Godwin Jacob, Olofela Oyebanji, Adefolalu Ayodele, Tewasie Francis, Babatunde Samuel, Godwin Joseph, Issa Mumee, Miracle Solomon, Abraham Kehinde, Muhammed Bello, Muhammed Muhammed, Ahmadu Umaru, Muhammed Dankai, and Saliu Murtala, faced charges of alleged kidnapping and culpable homicide before Justice Umar Zikir.

The charge sheet accuses the suspects of causing the death of the Onikoro of Koro, Oba Aremu Olusegun Cole, and kidnapping his wife, Olori Iyabo Aremu. The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100 million for their release but eventually received N12 million.

The Director of Public Prosecution, Barrister Muhammed Akande, informed the court that the offences are capital in nature and require the suspects to have legal representation. He added that the office of the public defender would provide legal services to any of the suspects in need.
