Ilorin-Jebba-Mokwa-Kabba Roads to Get Attention this Yuletide
As part of efforts to ensure that most federal roads are motorable, Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onolememen, has assured the people of Kwara State that major federal roads in the state, particularly Ilorin-Jebba-Mokwa and Ilorin-Kabba roads would be more motorable during the forthcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Mr Onolememen gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy call on state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed at the Government House in Ilorin.
The Minister, who said he was in the state to monitor the level of ongoing repair works on federal roads promised that complete reconstruction of the roads would be captured in the next year's fiscal budget.
Mr Onolememen said the repair of federal roads in Kwara State was crucial because of the centrality of the state and as a link between the South-West and Northern part of the country.
Also speaking, Governor Ahmed, who said that it was noteworthy that the Federal Government had started to uplift the state of federal roads, appealed for the construction of Kishi-Kaiama (federal) and the Ajasse-Ipo-Offa roads in order to ease challenges being faced by commuters on those roads.
The governor stressed that as part of the strategic infrastructure development programme of his administration, the state government had spent over N2 billion on rural roads in the state as part of efforts to open up all parts of the state for economic development.
