22-year-old man drowns in Ilorin dam

A 22-year-old man drowned in Ilorin Agba Dam on Tuesday.

He was recovered dead by the rescue team of the state fire service, according to the spokesman of the fire service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, in a statement in Ilorin on Tuesday.

The deceased, identified as Sodiq Mustapha, hailed from Sheji Compound, Kankatu in Okelele area of Ilorin, the state capital.

"The recovery operation was carried out at about 9.40a.m, in the presence of the state Commissioner and Permanent Secretary, Kwara state Ministry of Water Resources," the spokesman stated.

Director of the state fire service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, consoled the family of the victim.

He advised parents to watch over their children's movement in order to avert similar future occurrences.
