College of Nursing, Ilorin Matriculates 50
The Kwara State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Ilorin matriculated 50 students for 2011/2012 academic session with a charge to redouble their efforts to achieve success.
Speaking at the matriculation programme held at the college's hall, the state commissioner for Health, Alhaji Kayode Issa called on the students of the college to attach seriousness to their studies and practice.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Mustapha Abdullahi , the commissioner explained that the state government holds the college in high esteem, as it is the only functional college of Nursing and Midwifery in the state.
He said that the effort put in the training of nurses and midwifery as well as the organization of the programme is highly commended.
Issa assured the institution that the challenges facing it will be properly looked into with a view of further developing the school.
Earlier in his address, the provost of the school, Alhaji Lawal Jimoh explained that the institution is designed to train professional Nurses and Midwives that play key role in the health care delivery programme of the government.
Lawal explained that out of the one hundred and twenty (120) student initially admitted to the college,only fifty matriculated after various tests.
He commended the efforts of government for the foresight of funding the institution and its continuous reformation culminating in the recent merger of the school of Nursing and Midwifery.
