Kwara trains team on National Livestock Plan programme

About 3000 N-Power Agro Corps are being trained to take necessary data that would help in implementing the National Livestock Transformation programme (NLTP) in Kwara State.

Kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin disclosed stated this at the opening of a three-day training workshop on the NLTP ahead of its implementation in Kwara state.

A statement issued by Press Secretary, Kwara Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Yusuf Ganiyu Adebisi in Ilorin, notes that the successful implementation of the National Livestock Transformation programme (NLTP) of the Federal Government, would drive productivity in agriculture, improve standards of living and help the country achieve self sufficiency in food production.

It explains that Kwara was participating in the programme to empower the citizens, guarantee food security and boost productivity, as the state has assembled a robust and highly experienced project management team.

The statement also explains that the Kwara team will be supervised by a steering committee chaired by the secretary to the state government, explaining that the government had allocated resources to support quick roll out of the programme, urging the enumerators to put in their best.

It quotes Project Management Team Lead of Kwara NLTP, Sheriff Salau, as saying the plan was designed by the Federal Government to develop value chain in the livestock sector as well as address herders-farmers clashes across the country.
