Date: 2018-08-27

Son of a late former governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Akeem Lawal, has declared his intention to contest in the 2019 governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking when he was received by his supporters on arrival in Ilorin, the son of governor Mohammed Lawal said his intention to run was a call to service.

The governorship aspirant, who said Kwara State could only be taken to a greater level of development with ideas from the youth, added that he was prepared to inject youthful energy and ideas that would change the fortunes of the state. Alhaji Akeem's father served as governor under the All Peoples Party (APP) banner between 1999 and 2003.
