Kwara United pip MFM in mid-season friendly

Date: 2018-08-14

The Harmony Warriors continued their impressive mid-season form with an away win against the Olukoya Boys in Lagos on Monday afternoon

Kwara United claimed a precious 1-0 victory over MFM in a friendly match played on Monday afternoon in Lagos.

Shamsudeen Hashimu scored the only goal of the match in the fifth minute of the fixture and it was what the Harmony Warriors needed to secure another away mid-season friendly victory.

Abubakar Bala's men had beaten Osun United 1-0 in Oshogbo in another friendly tie played recently but their latest win was at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

Kwara United will take remaining NPFL games seriously, says Sunday Akinmoladun Kwara United host Shooting Stars in friendly rematch Abubakar Bala impressed with Kwara United's form after Kogi United win The defeat is another setback to Fidelis Ilechukwu's men after having an indifferent season in the top-flight and in Africa.

The defeat is another setback to Fidelis Ilechukwu's men after having an indifferent season in the top-flight and in Africa.

They were eliminated in both the Caf Champions League and Caf Confederation Cup by MC Algiers (Algeria) and Djoliba AC of Mali respectively while they have been underwhelming in the Nigeria Professional Football League season also.

With a second position in the league last season, purists expected them to build on that performance but wholesome changes to the playing staff meant that the Olukoya Boys would have to struggle this season in the domestic campaign and in Africa.

The Lagos based side were also humbled 1-0 by Ikorodu United not too long ago in another friendly tie but Kwara United have had very decent performances in their recent matches.

Both clubs used the game to assess the level of their preparedness for the continuation of the league and their determination to remain in the elite division beyond the current season.
