Kwara Assembly Passes 34 Bills,103 Motions in 3 years - Ali Ahmad

The eighth legislature of the Kwara State House of Assembly within the last three legislative sessions passed 34 bills, rejected 2 bills while 8 other bills are at various stages of legislative process.

The Speaker Dr. Ali Ahmad gave this indication in Ilorin while addressing members on the resumption of the last legislative session of the current legislature.

Dr Ahmad while welcoming members to the beginning of the final lap of the eighth legislature, disclosed that the House received 7 private member bills, the highest since the inception of the State House of Assembly in 1979, stressing that 103 motions were also moved and Resolutions adopted on them.

Dr Ahmad explained that the legislatives Bills, numerous Motions, Matters of urgent and General Public Importance, public hearings involving experts and professionals have led to prompt intellectual and robust debates at the floor, pointing out that kwarans home and diaspora had participated in lawmaking and governance in general.

The Speaker also recalled how the legislature's intervention had resulted in the timely completion of rehabilitation of Ilorin-mokwa road, doused tension occasioned by non - payment of salary to teachers and Local Government Staff especially during the period of recession timely intervention that resulted in reduction of school fees at the State Owned Polytechnic.

He then assured that legislature in the last legislative session would demonstrate more zeal and dedication to further enhance the upliftment of the people of the state.

Dr Ahmad then praised the Executive arm of government, Management and Staff of the House, the media, the All Progressives Congress in the state and,Governor Abdul Fatah Ahmed the Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki for ensuring an indivisible APC in the state.

Meanwhile, the House has deferred further deliberation on the report of the Ad- Hoc Committee on illegal Mining activities in the state, presented by its chairman and House Leader, Hon . Hassan Oyeleke at the floor of the House.
