Date: 2018-06-09

Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad has said the death of one of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders in the state, Alhaji Oba Bolanta is a huge loss to the ruling party, particularly as it is preparing for the 2019 general elections.

A condolence message issued by the speaker's Special Assistant on Media, Shuaib Abdulkadir, described the late politician as one of the foremost and revered politicians in the state.

Ahmad noted that the deceased who was a very dependable ally and able lieutenant of Dr. Olusola Saraki of blessed memory would be sorely missed, regretting that he died at a time his experience is very much required especially with the 2019 elections fast approaching.

He said that as an Elder Stateman, late Bolanta never shy away from offering useful ideas and advice to successive governments on how to move the state forward and improve the citizens' well-being.

The speaker said that despite his old age, the late politician was always to be reckoned with in the scheme of things and never at any point in time engaged in politics of do or die or political violence.

The speaker stressed that the deceased was among the very few old politicians in Kwara who were ever ready to share political ideas and experience with the present crop of politicians when approached for advice due to his experience which spanned several decades in the political arena.

The lawmaker who further described the late sage as a core grassroot politician maintained that young politicians as well as present crop of public office holders should strive to emulate him as there are a lot to learn from his lifestyle and politics.

Ahmad commiserated with the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, leadership, members and supporters of the APC in the state over the great loss.

He also condoled the deceased's immediate family and prayed Allah to forgive Alhaji Bolanta his sins and grant him Al-Janah firdaus.
