Easter: LG boss, Cleric commend workers' dedication, perseverance

Date: 2018-04-03

The Chairman, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara, Mr Muyiwa Oladipo, has commended the council workers for their dedication and perseverance in the face of economic difficulties.

Oladipo gave the commendation on Monday in a message to mark Easter celebration in Omu-Aran.

He said the workers had demonstrated a high level of devotion, selflessness and loyalty in spite of the council's financial challenges.

The council boss said the administration would continue to prioritise the welfare of workers, assuring them that the state government was making effort to clear the backlog of their salaries.

Oladipo urged the workers to use the spirit of Easter celebration to pray for workable solutions to the numerous challenges confronting the state and the nation.

He maintained that only a collective responsibility of stakeholders could bring about the desired transformation in the council, the state and the country.

Oladipo said his administration was seeking collaboration with relevant stakeholders and would not leave any stone unturned toward improving the living standard of the people of the area.

"The series of meetings with the workers, especially with members and officials of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) is a good pointer in that direction.

"The essence is to use such avenue to interact and evolve workable solutions to our problems and ensure the social-economic development in the council," he said.

In a similar development, the General Overseer, Christ Apostolic Chruch, Ori-Oke Irapada, Omu-Aran, Christopher Owolabi, said Nigerian workers deserved praises for their steadfastness.

Owolabi commended them for exhibiting understanding and maturity in spite of their unimpressive financial status, occasioned by irregular payment of salaries.

He urged governors of states owing backlog of workers salaries and entitlement to strive to settle such in the spirit of Easter celebration.

Owolabi expressed optimism that the achievement recorded by the government's anti-corruption crusade would lead to economic prosperity for the nation.

"When that happens, the burden of the workers and the generality of Nigerians will be a thing of the past," he said. (NAN)
