I'm not in running battle with Gov Ahmed- Kwara South Senator

Date: 2017-11-11

The Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, has clarified that he was not in a strain relationship with Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, as being speculated in some quarters.

The legislator said his relationship with the Governor, who he described as Kwara South leader was cordial because they belong to the same political family.

Ibrahim made the clarification at a meeting held with the chairmanship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara South Senatorial District preparatory for the November 18, 2017 local government election across the state.

Social media platforms had been inundated recently with reports that a wedge had been drawn between the two politicians over who clinches the Kwara South Senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019.

But Ibrahim described as unwarranted the rumour making the rounds over the alleged rift between him and the Governor, adding that he enjoys smooth relationship with his brother.

"The rift only exists in the gullible minds of people who are envious of our solid and strong political structure", he said.

At the meeting, Ibrahim pledged his support for the APC candidates to complement the efforts of the party leader and President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki an Governor Ahmed to ensure landslide victory at the polls.

"In our structure, we can never fight over party ticket, under the watch of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki. Whoever the party structure under our Leader favours, enjoys the support of all without rancour from any quarters'', he added.

The legislator said there was strong leadership in place in Kwara State under the political structure led by Saraki.

"This gesture is to complement the leadership as a responsible office holder under the tutelage and mentorship of our great Leader, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki", he submitted.
