The Chief Imam of Abdul-Quadry Ojomu Mosque, Ilorin, Alhaji Isaaq Olagunju, has called for the enforcement of dress code in higher institutions of learning in the county to curb indecent dressing.

Olagunju, who made the call yesterday in Ilorin, noted that the campuses of most educational institutions have been turned to fashion show grounds by half-naked girls.

According to him, students now go about naked without caution, saying government and management of the institutions must regulate the habit.

"It is becoming a norm in most of the Nigeria higher institutions where students feel they can dress anyhow without conscience.

"I think it is time for school management and concern authorities to stop this practice. "Dress code must be enforced on the campus so as not to turn our society to an immoral environment.

"It is getting out of hand as students now abuse the freestyle dress code on campuses, especially girls who derive pleasure in exposing their body to impress.

"We have embraced foreign culture to the detriment of our own rich Africa culture.

"Stringent policies on dress code must be enforced to rescue the situation. It is saddening seeing what our society now turned to," Olagunju stressed.

The cleric advised the youths to "dress decently and politely in order to look presentable."

He also urged parents, religious leaders, journalists and government to mount a campaign against indecent dressing for the sake of future generations.
