Kano State Government has sponsored 130 contingents to participate in the 2017 third National Youth Games holding in Ilorin, Kwara state between Sept.8 and Sept.17

The Chairman of Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, disclosed this in Kano on Thursday while addressing the athletes before their departure to Ilorin.

Galadima advised the young athletes to be focused, disciplined and obedient to their coaches and rules of the various games.

The chairman also advised them to be good ambassadors of the state throughout the period of the tournament and beyond, adding that they should win laurels for the state.

He described the tournament as a veritable tool for talents hunting, adding that the young athletes from the state should take advantage of the occasion to earn career in sports.

He, therefore, expressed delight to the commitment of the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje toward the mobilization of the contingent to attend the national sports event.

Some of the athletes who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) commended the state government for prioritizing sports in the state.

They promised to do their best to justify the state's investment in sports by winning laurels at the event. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kano will feature in 14 games.
