Abuja, Kwara, others to experience flood Wednesday – NiMet

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, has predicted localised thunderstorms over the Central States of Kwara, Niger, Abuja, Nassarawa, Jos and Kaduna on Wednesday morning.

NiMet's Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office, on Tuesday in Abuja also predicted cloudy conditions over some parts of the region in the morning.

It added that the central states would experience isolated thunderstorms later in the day with day and Night temperatures in the range of 24 to 31 and 11 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

The agency predicted that Southern States would experience cloudy with chances of isolated rains over Obudu, Ogoja, Ikom, Abakaliki, Enugu, Eket, Calabar and port Harcourt in the morning.

It also predicted localised rains over Osogbo, Shaki, Ado-Ekiti, Iseyin and Akure, Portharcourt, Benin, Calabar, Eket, Owerri, Umuhahia, Enugu, Abakaliki during afternoon and evening hours with day and Night temperatures of 28 to 31 and 21 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to NiMet, Northern States will experience severe thunderstorms with possibilities of flood over Maiduguri, Yola, Damaturu, Potiskum and Nguru and localised thunderstorms over Dutse, Kano, Katistina, Gusau and yelwa during the morning and afternoon period.

"Cloudiness is expected over Sokoto in the morning with day and Night temperatures in the range of 31 to 35 and 22 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

"There are high prospects of severe thunderstorms over the northeast while localised thunderstorms are anticipated over the northwest and central states.

"The southern areas are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall activities in the next 24 hours," NiMet predicted.
