KWHA summons hoteliers over stripper clubs in Ilorin

Date: 2017-08-10

The Kwara State House of Assembly has summoned managements of some Hotels and other Hospitality Centers in Ilorin , the state capital to appear before it next Tuesday, over allegations that they run stripper clubs within their premises.

The hotels and hospitality centers' management invited are Kwara Hotels, Princess Luxury Hotel, and Bubbles Club.

Others invited are Ministry of Commerce and Harmony Holdings.

The summon was sequel to a motion under Matter of Urgent Public Importance raised by the House Leader, Hassan Oyeleke that a number of hotels in the state capital run strippers clubs, contrary to the moral values of the people of the state.

Oyeleke said that no religion or civilization supports nudity, hence, a state like Kwara, which is known as a religious state, should not allow the existence of strippers clubs in the state.

The members called on the religious leaders and other opinion molders, to rise up to the challenge by condemning the act.

Reading the resolution of the House, the Deputy Speaker, Matthew Okedare, who presided at the plenary, directed the managements of Kwara Hotels, Harmony Holdings and others to appear on the floor of the House next Tuesday, to explain why such activity is promoted in their hotels.
