Man Jailed One Year for Stealing N10,000 goat
An Ilorin Magistrate Court has sentenced a 42-year-old man, Raimi Mohammed of Agbo compound, Tanke, Ilorin, to one year imprisonment for stealing a goat.
The court sentenced the man to the jail term having found him guilty of stealing the animal valued at N10,000.
Prior to the conviction of the man, the prosecutor, Constable Abegunde Elijah, had prayed the court to try the acussed summarily since he had confessed to the offences he was accussed of.
The trial Magistrate, Mr. Ibrahim Dansuki granted the oral application of the prosecutor as he convicted the accussed of the offences of criminal trespasss, theft and mischief.
Consequently, the court sentenced the man to one-year imprisonment with an option of N5000 fine. The convict is to spend the jail term at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura Ilorin.
The convict had on July 26 trespassed into the compound of one Mrs. Taye Lare of Agbo Lini Area, Tanke, Ilorin, where he stole a black she-goat and slaughtered it.
Luck ran out on the convict when he was caught by the neighbours of the owner while taking the goat to an unknown destination.
