Oke-Ero By-Election: Kwara APC dedicates victory to Saraki
Good day, ladies and gentlemen of the press.
Thank you for honouring our invitation at short notice.
Firstly, we appreciate almighty Allah for the peaceful and hitch-free by-election held in Oke-Ero state constituency on Saturday.
According to the result announced by the Returning Officer of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Dr. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, our party won 68 out of 69 polling units.
By implication our candidate, Mrs Victoria Olubunmi Afolayan has been returned and elected as the member representing Oke-Ero constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly.
We hail the people of Oke-Ero constituency in the state for voting massively to elect our State House of Assembly candidate, Mrs Victoria Olubumbi.
In clear terms, the result of the poll has shown that despite the noises of the opposition PDP, the popularity of the APC in Kwara State remained unthreatened".
We also congratulate the lawmaker-elect and commend our party members in the constituency for mobilising for the resounding victory of the party.
Indeed, notwithstanding the politically-motivated trial of the Senate President, the fact that Dr. Bukola Saraki stood firmly by the party throughout the process of campaign and in the implementation of the election-winning strategy is legendary.
We hereby dedicate this victory to the Senate President.
The victory of our party in Oke-Ero shows in clear terms the height of confidence the people have in the political leadership of the Senate President despite the defamatory commentary sponsored by his political adversaries and traducers.
The people of Kwara State know the truth and they quite know where the truth stands. It is, therefore, a clear signal that Kwara is a no go area.
This resounding victory is likewise a vote of confidence in the leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed. The political imbeciles who had predicted doom for our party at the poll due to the economic challenges facing the state are after all doomed. The present economic challenges are not peculiar to the state alone as they affect the entire country and the federal government.
On our part, we are satisfied that the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led administration has taken courageous steps to significantly reduce the cost of governance and at the same time doing what is necessary to increase the internally generated revenue in the state for the benefit of all Kwarans.
Thank you.
