I wasn't attacked over Saraki in Bauchi - Sen Misau

Date: 2016-04-19

The senator is said to be an ardent supporter of Saraki in the red chamber.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy, Isa Hamma Misau on Monday faulted the report that he was attacked in Ningi area of his constituency over his support for the Senate President Bukola Saraki. Misau (APC, Bauchi Central) was reportedly attacked at the weekend by irate youth who destroyed his vehicles.

It was reported that, Misau, an ardent supporter of Saraki narrowly escaped the attack, leaving his cap and shoe behind. The picture of his cap and shoe trended on social media throughout the weekend.

But in an interview with our correspondent, Misau who confirmed visiting Ningi said he was not attacked by the people of his constituency. " I was in Ningi and other parts of my constituency on Saturday but I wasn't attacked by anybody. The social media is giving our youth negative perception about things, "he said.

While denying ownership of the shoe and cap that went viral, Misau said no Senator will wear such items, saying the items are not befitting of the status of a Senator.

" No Senator will wear such items because as Senators we go for qualitative items that befit our status. The cap is not a quality one, it is not more than N1,500 and so also the shoe. " Go and check the video clips of our sittings and see whether you will see me wearing such kind of items, "he said in a phone interview.
