As part of efforts to promote quality education in Kwara state, a high-standard private school in Ilorin, Roemichs International School, has embarked on a programme of sending its teachers to local public schools in the state to aid effective teaching/learning exercise.

Principal of the Roemichs school, kevin Massey who spoke with journalists during open-day event of the school said the initiative was to encourage quality education in the public schools. Massey who said that some of the school's teachers were recently deployed for a period in some public schools for the proogramme also disclosed that some public schools and remand homes were also provided with teaching materials and techniques, and furniture.

The school principal said the expectation was that the beneficiary public schools would transfer the knowledge and skills to their neigbouring schools. He said that most schools with tag of being international did not operate as standard international schools.

Massey said Roemichs was established to provide quality education as well as promote cultural and traditional values in a conducive learning environment. "Many students ask themselves and their parents why they need to go to school in Europe because they don't see the need. They have almost every thing on the plate. So, they don't appreciate education. But Nigerians like some other African nations appreciate sound education and that's why we teach and inculcate cultural values", he said.

The Principal who said that it was a deliberate decision of the management of the school to operate a small number of students in each class, explained that the measure was aimed to encourage individual tuition, without missing out anyone by the quality teachers in the school.
