'We lost N8m to Share/Tsaragi crisis'- Bank MD

Iyeru-Okin Micro-Finance Bank, Share branch in Ifelodun Local Government area of Kwara State told the commission of enquiry probing the recent Share/Tsaragi communal clash that it lost over N8 million during the alleged invasion of Share community by suspected Tsaragi youths.

It would be recalled that crisis broke out between Share and Tsaragi in Edu Local Government of the State on 19th December, 2016 which claimed two lives while properties worth millions of Naira were said to have been destroyed.

Giving testimony before the judicial panel on Wednesday in Ilorin, the State capital, the Managing Director, Iyeru-Okin Micro-Finance Bank, Alhaji Fasasi Balogun disclosed that for the past seven years the bank has been operating in the Share community, there had not been a reported case of stealing in the bank.

The Managing Director who had earlier forwarded a memorandum and pictures on the burnt bank to the panel, saying the bank's losses were estimated to be N8.1 million.

Earlier, a witness from Share community, Yinka Olaosebikan under cross examination identified many houses, three primary schools, cars, motorcycles, mosque and churches that were destroyed.
