FEDPOFFA's SUG fete students with soccer contest

Date: 2016-01-06

In what appears to be a New Year gift to their fellow students, members of the Students Union Government of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, recently organised a soccer fiesta to fete students of the institution for a successful year in the polytechnic.

A release made available to National Mirror by Public Relations Officer of the SUG, Olorunisola Shodiq, after the match said the students were delighted to have witnessed various stages of the event, which was eventually won by Computer Science Department of the institution.

"The game started with preliminary stages, where the departments were grouped. The teams which qualified from the group stage were fixed against each other in the knock out stage, leaving Computer Science and Insurance Department to qualify for final stage.

"After the 45 minutes, the match ended one-zero, in favour of Computer Science. In the second half of the match, penalty was awarded to Computer Science. The match later ended 2-1 in favour of Computer science," part of the release said.

Director for Sport of the SUG, Com. Sanjotayo was quoted as saying the match was very interesting, and that it would help the institution to select the team that would represent it at the forthcoming Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA).
