Man, 25, held over kidnapping

Date: 2016-01-04

A 25-year-old cattle breeder, Usman Husseni has been remanded in prison by a Magistrate's Court in Kwara State capital Ilorin for allegedly kidnapping one Bawa Usman.

The case was transferred from Oke-Onigbin Police Headquarters to Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Ilorin.

It was gathered that on December 11, Bawa Usman of Isanlu-Isin road Oke-Onigbin reported at the station that on that day, while he was returning to his town from Ajase-Ipo market he was attacked by three suspected armed robbers who dispossessed him of N10,000 and took him to the bush.

The complainant added that after he was kidnapped, the accused demanded N5 million ransom, but that he was able to escape when they all slept.

"Based on the complainant's submission that he recognized Usman Husseni among the kidnappers, police arrested him at Ajase-Ipo and he confessed to committing the crime but refused to give details of other two criminals," the prosecution said.
