Lafiagi Emirate lauds Kwara government on investment drive

Date: 2015-12-17

The Lafiagi Development and Descendants Union (LADDU), an umbrella organisation of indigenes of Lafiagi Emirate community in Edu Local Government area of Kwara State, has commended the investment drive of the state government, saying that it was capable of tackling poverty in most rural communities.

Speaking with the Daily Times, on Wednesday, the president of the organisation, Alhaji Baba Bello Ibrahim, said that the activities of a new sugar refinery in the community, formerly known as Lafiagi Sugar Company, had turned the area into a tourist centre.

Ibrahim, who said that the sugar refinery project was capable of creating job opportunities for the indigenes, added that it would also provide economic empowerment to the people.

"The BUA investment is set to turn Lafiagi Sugar Company back to life, so that it could offer more employment opportunities to youths and hereby enhance economic life of its people", he said.
