Auto crash claims 12 in Kwara
An auto accident involving an 18-seater commercial bus and a DAF truck has claimed 12 lives and injured six people in Koko village in Omupo, Kwara state, on Wednesday.
Daily Times gathered that the accident, which occurred at about 2:00pm, reportedly had the driver of the truck overtaking carelessly before having a head-on collision with the Osun state-bound 18 seater bus.
It was also gathered that 10 adults and two children, including five males and seven females were among the dead victims in the crash.
Speaking with the Daily Times on the accident, the state commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oladayo Ademoluti, said his men had taken the injured persons to hospitals for medical treatment, adding that corpses of the victims had been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
"A Good Samaritan put a call across to the command this afternoon to intimate us of the incident and our men moved into the scene of the accident immediately. Our Accident Investigators were also drafted to the scene to ascertain the remote and immediate cause of the accident, among other issues that may have been involved", he said.
