Kwara relocates used goods market to permanent site

THE fairly used clothes market in Ilorin, Kwara State, popularly called "Sunday, Sunday market", has been relocated to its permanent site at Kulende in Sango area of the metropolis.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who monitored activities at the new site reported low turnout of customers.
One of the traders, Bilikis Ahmed, told NAN that the relocation of the market to Kulende was a welcome development.
Bilikis said that in spite of the low patronage at Kulende, the place was still better than the old site at the Post Office.
She said that security operatives and hoodlums were no longer harassing traders and customers at the new site.
Another trader, Mr. Tijani Olayiwola, however, said that the relocation of the market to Kulende was "ill-conceived."
He said that the new location was not central like the Post Office site where customers had easy access to the market from different locations.
"This has affected our sales drastically, even the space provided for us to display our wares is dusty and often times we now take the dirty unsold wares home," he said.
