Kwara United Players Boycott Training Over Unpaid Salaries

Date: 2015-10-08

Players of Glo Premier League outfit, Kwara United, boycotted training on Wednesday, protesting the non-payment of their salaries, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.

Completesportsnigeria.com scooped from one of the players who pleaded anonymity that they are being owed four months’ salaries as well as six match bonuses.

According to the player, they are also owed 100% sign-on fees for this season and 30% sign-on fees from last season.

“The situation is pathetic and we don’t have a choice than to boycott training so that they (the management of the club) will know what we are passing through,” the player disclosed to Completesportsnigeria.com.

“The last time we were paid was in May this year, so it’s time we let them know we can’t cope with the situation any longer.

“We have done everything within our power to avoid this situation with little or no success, hence the decision to go on strike.”

The Harmony Boys who are fighting to avoid the drop occupy the 18th position on the log and this latest development could harm their chances of maintaining their top flight status.

They travel to Makurdi where they will take on Lobi Stars in a week 33 fixture on Sunday.
